Collectible
Fruit Crate Labels on Display
We received an e-mail
from one of you inquiring about the old apple crate labels once
used by Larson Fruit Company of Selah, Washington. Well, we talked
to one of the Larsons about it and found out that the Orchard Boy
label which depicts a red-haired, freckled face boy of Swedish descent
was based on their own family traits!
Your
question gave us the impetus for our next project. We have joined
the ranks of fruit crate label collectors and you can see pictures
of our early finds on the brand new Fruit
Label Display page! Of course, Orchard Boy will always be one
of our favorites but how can we not love Dainty Maid, who wears
a sweater with the nickname Babs
embroidered on the collar?

Don't
forget to check out our

if you're in the mood to try new recipes, or old. We've added some
Heritage Recipes that are identified with the old-fashioned cook
logo.
If
you don't feel up to cooking green eggs and ham, we recommend Candied
Gala Apples with a St. Patrick's Day twist!
