Fuji Apples

Fuji apples are aromatic, sweet, juicy and crisp with a firm texture. The Fuji's appearance varies from yellow-green with red highlights to mostly red. The Fuji's spicy, crisp sweetness gives it exceptional eating quality.

Fujis were developed at the Tohuku Research Station in Morioka, Japan in 1939. Production began in Japan in 1958. As a recent arrival in the United States, the Fuji has developed a loyal following.

Red Gravenstein Apples

Red Gravenstein Apples

The flavor is full body, slightly on the tart side and very aromatic. Many connesieurs use the Gravenstein Apple as a standard with which to compare flavor. The Red Gravenstein is a summer apple, not your long term winter keeper. So enjoy this apple while in its short season or make that pie or sauce now and freeze for later use on that special occasion.

Golden Delicious Apple

Golden Delicious Apples

The Golden Delicious apple is an excellent "all purpose" cooking apple. This Washington apple has firm, white flesh that retains its shape when baked or cooked. Its rich, mellow flavor is an asset to any recipe. The Golden Delicious skin is so tender and thin that you can skip peeling it for many recipes. We also like the Golden Delicious as an attractive fruit bowl and fresh eating apple.

"This apple would have to earn the all around award for eating, cooking, and long keeping. It makes a gorgeous golden sauce, and wonderful pies, even after the apple has shriveled up in spring! Great for eating out of hand with its mellow crisp apple flavor and smooth skin." - Kelly and Nena Kukes

Gala Apple

Gala Apples

The Gala apple blends modern and old-fashioned parentage. It is aromatic with a very sweet flavor and crisp and firm texture. This variety has Cox's Orange Pippin, a wonderful old-fashioned English favorite, and both Red and Golden Delicious in its family tree. It ripens early and keeps well. We think you'll enjoy this superb "eating" apple!

"This apple has made its mark as the most exceptional sweet apple to eat out of hand. It's a cross between the Golden Delicious and the Cox Orange Pippen. Keeps well in the refrigerator. This season we have personally hand sorted the best of the best of our crop, not only are they absolutely beautiful but the growing conditions of this season has made this the most wonderful flavored apple with plenty of crunch and juice. In addition to offering this wonderful apple we have (while supplies last) Galas that have been stamped by photosynthesis a star or heart impression that we will put "one" in each gift box to let that recipient know how special they are." - Kelly & Nena Kukes

Jonagold Apple

Jonagold Apples

The name of this brilliant golden-red apple reflects its parentage of Golden Delicious and Jonathan. It has the tart-sweetness of the Jonathan and juicy, crispness in texture of  the Goldens. Noted for its large size, beauty and flavor, the Jonagold is a taste test winner.

"The standard Jonagold Apple is the best of two apples in one. The cross between the Jonathan and Golden Delicious make a superb cooking and eating apple, and excellent shelf life. Now after saying this, try a delightful offshoot of the Jonagold--Morrens Jona-go-red!" - Kelly and Nena Kukes

Morrens Jona-go-red Apple

Morrens Jona-go-red Apples

From Morrens Orchard in Belgium, this sport of the Jonagold Apple is better colored red, thinner skinned and the flavor is out of this world! The difference puts this apple in a class of its own.

"And also available while supples last we again offer this apple with a stamp of a star or heart imprinted on the apple by sun photo-synthesis. One of these apples can be put in your gift box to give it that extra holiday appeal to the party that receives this gift (while supplies last). - Kelly and Nena Kukes

Macoun Apples

The Macoun apple is an excellent "all purpose" apple. This apple is a McIntosh cross developed in the 20th Century at the New York Agricultural Experiment Station. Sweet, crisp and aromatic, it has very white flesh that contrasts with its dark, nearly purple-hued skin. Good dessert apple that is only available during harvest season.

"This hybrid McIntosh Apple originated in the State of New York and it is very popular for exceptional flavor that's on the slightly sweet side, thin skin and crisp juicy texture. The color is dark pink over a creamy green flesh, and looks beautiful in a gift box. This apple is very popular with our customers and comes from our own orchard and is carefully hand picked for our gift boxes." - Kelly and Nena Kukes

Research Studies Show

It is no surprise that apples are a great source of fiber in your diet but did you know that they also contain flavonoids which may be able to protect your lungs? The Journal of the National Cancer Institute reported that a research study in January 2000 found the risk of lung cancer may be reduced by as much as half by consuming foods high in flavonoids, such as apples.

In Britain another study in January 2000 reported that people who ate an apple a day had better lung function than their non-apple eating counterparts.
