Kittitas Valley Life Promoted In 1908 local promoters sent Souvenir Editions of a northwest illustrated magazine to eastern states to promote the benefits of a new life in the west. Local Ellensburg businesses were anxious to encourage population growth in their town and valley in the early 20th century. They hoped that descriptions of the natural wonders and beauties of Washington State and the opportunities found there would fuel boomtown growth. Whether due to their efforts or not, farmers, orchardists and ranchers did settle in the Kittitas Valley where they found arable land, plentiful water, a good climate and a decent growing season.
